The mission of the Vermont Council on World Affairs is to promote awareness and understanding of the world and its people, places and cultures through education and engagement.

The future of Vermont depends upon the world beyond our borders.  The Vermont Council on World Affairs, in cooperation with the public and private sectors,  promotes an awareness and understanding of the world and its people through public forums, hosting international visitors and working with our educational institutions to develop programs for students, faculty, staff and community. 


History

The Vermont Council on World Affairs (VCWA) was founded in 1952 by U.S. Senator Warren R. Austin and a group of other distinguished Vermonters. For almost 60 years and through a changing world, the VCWA has worked to promote awareness and understanding of world affairs among Vermonters through educational programs, presentations and hosting delegates from around the world. The VCWA gratefully acknowledges support for international visitors from the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, the Community Connections program of USAID, and the Open World Program of the Library of Congress.
