BECOME A CITIZEN DIPLOMAT!

Citizen diplomacy is the concept that, in a vibrant democracy, the individual has the right, even the responsibility, to help shape U.S. foreign relations, “one handshake at a time.” 

Here are a few of the many ways you can help :

International Visitors Program

• Brainstorm on programming ideas by suggesting meetings and activities
• Schedule appointments
• Greet visitors at the airport
• Escort a delegation to their appointments
• Have the visitors to my home for a meal or social event
• Be a home hospitality host for international visitors
• Write an article for a local weekly about a delegation’s visit

Speakers and other Programs

• Suggest and/or contact speakers
• Help with organizing the event
• Distribute flyers and posters
• Assist at the event with tickets, programs, etc.

Help build the Vermont Council on World Affairs

• Help build databases and files
• Write thank you notes
• Be involved in community outreach activities
• Do research
• Fundraise
• Help staff the office to assist on projects
