Global Talk, Local Taste

Connecting with others from Vermont and around the world.

Global Talk, Local Taste.

The VCWA  encourages Vermonters to come together and discuss global issues while enjoying local flavors; that’s why we created Global Talk, Local Taste.

Structured as a casual after-hours networking event, Global Talk, Local Taste gives community members an opportunity to meet other globally focused Vermonters without leaving the comfort of a Burlington restaurant or brewery.  To drive the conversation, each Global Talk, Local Taste features one or two special guests.  Our special guests are leaders in their fields and are provided five to ten minutes to address the group and shed some light on their work.

Connect.

Connect with the VCWA over local cuisine. The stronger our network, the better equipped our whole community will be to tackle our most pressing challenges. Starting with the bridges we build as individual citizens, we aim to build mutual understanding and respect among nations.

International Trivia.

Think you have what it takes to win the Vermont Council on World Affairs International Trivia Nights?

Hosted quarterly, the VCWA brings colleagues, friends, and families together to compete at a local restaurant or cocktail lounge. VCWA International Trivia Nights are the perfect way to relax after-hours with your coworkers while putting your knowledge to the test.

Timely Topics.

VCWA is kickstarting a new series called “Timely Topics” in celebration of our 70th anniversary. These events will feature experts with knowledge of current events happening around our globe.

These events are open to the public and FREE for VCWA members. These events are currently being held via ZOOM. Join us for these timely discussions.

Book Talks.

This past year the VCWA hosted its first annual book talk series. This book talk series “Discovering the World of Humanitarian Aid” was an all-women’s series designed to explore the complexity of international humanitarian aid, assess its impacts – for better or worse – on local communities, and share strategies for increasing its effectiveness. Authors included researchers, journalists, and humanitarians who will share unique on-the-ground experiences from around the world.

Our book talk series are FREE to all VCWA members. We encourage individuals to purchase and read the book prior to the talk, however, it is not required in order to participate. For now, these events will be held via ZOOM.
